MODE: 9 rounds, Swiss System. FIDE title norms are possible!

Two Groups:

• A group ELO > 1850
• B group ELO < 1950
• Players with rating between 1850 and 1950 can choose the group.

TIMETABLE: 

– Registration confirmations until 11:00 a.m. Saturday 18 July 2026.

– Pairing for the first round 15.00 p.m.

– Opening ceremony: Saturday 18 July 2026, starting at 17:30

– Closing ceremony: Saturday 25 July 2026, starting at 16:00 

Attention! Any player who arrives more than one hour after the scheduled start of a round shall lose the game by forfeit.
A player can take exception of half point  until round 5. The player should inform the chief arbiter before the pairings for the next round.

TIME CONTROL: 90 min for 40 moves + 15 min for all game + 30 sec per move from the first move.

ENTRY FEES:

A’ GROUP

• 60 € General fee
• 50 € for veteran players > 60 years old
• 50 € for players with ELO 2200-2299
• 40 € for players with ELO 2300-2399
• Free – Players with ELO up 2400 + titled players (GM, WGM, IM)

B’ GROUP

• 50 € for all the players of the B’ Group
  Players with ELO between 1750 – 1850 can join the A’ group, with extra entry fee of 30 € (total 90 €)

• The organizer may choose to place a limited number of participants in a different group than the one determined by their ELO rating.

• ATTENTION! The fees shall be paid in full, exactly as stated. All bank charges shall be covered by the sender.

PRIZES: Total Prize Fund 12.000 Euro

* For equally matched players, the prices will be shared by the Hort system (50% of the prices are shared equally and the other 50% are shared according the tie breaks)

* If a player wins two Special categories prices, he takes the bigger one

ANTI-CHEATING MEASURES:

The organizer will implement strict measures to prevent any possible cheating attempts.
Implies detailed control before entering the playing hall, delayed transfer of games, control of the playing venue and prevention of any mutual verbal and non-verbal communication.
The Chief Arbiter will be encouraged to device a system for conducting random checks during the tournament.

Attention! The hospital conditions are available for limited number of GM players and there will be a strict priority list!

Terminal date of deposit is since 30^th of June. After 30^th of June, there will be a 5 € increment in entry fees.

TRAVEL INFORMATION: The nearest airport to Paleochora is Chania airport (CHQ)

There will be a bus for those players who are travelling by ship at 18^th of July 2026 at 08.00 o’clock at the morning, leaving directly from Souda port to Paleochora.
The ticket price is 5 Euro per person.
